The Beach House, located on a picturesque beach in the beautiful Coral Coast in Fiji, offers a lot of opportunity for sea activities, and other adventures.

There’s a reason why the Coral Coast inspired Fiji's first tourist resorts in the 1960’s.The beautiful coastal region, with a backdrop of lush mountainous ranges descends to coconut tree fringed white sanded beaches, and out to a dreamily colored ocean. The exposed coral reef is visible from the road and reef break further out, runs a foaming white line through the turquoise sea. The expansive view is magnificent, and the crashing surf provides a soundtrack, and can be heard from time to time as the bus winds its way over the hills. Both the coastal road and the destination have enticing names. En route to the Beach House, by bus is an easily afforded two hour journey from Nadi, and an adventure in itself, traveling by bus in Fiji, an enjoyable window of opportunity into life in Fiji.

First impressions of the Beach House

Disembarking the bus right outside the entrance to the Beach House, there may be a sense that you’ve made an excellent decision. The sounds of wind rustling in tall coconut trees, and bird chorus accompany the scented walk down a drive surrounded by colorful tropical gardens. A collection of Pacific style chalets placed throughout the green lawns, are separated by stone and sand paths. They lead to the beach, and communal part of the resort. The impressive area maximizes many possibilities for lounging about, either socializing or quietude, with a view across the clear water to the reef break. The scene may deliver you to Fiji time easily, and effortlessly. A swimming pool, breakfast bar, dining area, bar and pool table, are located in various bure style buildings, with much attention to detail. The carved wooden pillars, cabinets and furniture really accentuate an outdoorsy Pacific feeling. From the brilliantly designed hammocks on the beach, you can marvel at a great choice to stay at this epic spot, and this is only the beginning.

The Beach House was the filming location of Celebrity Love Island Two. And it’s easy to see why. There are in fact many Beach Houses on this exquisitely established eight hectare coconut plantation. Adorable 'Garden Rooms', to dorm accommodation, they are made private by their surrounding gardens, with beautiful greenery, separated by hibiscus hedges and frangipani trees. Pacific feeling abounds. The buildings feature painted wooden shutters and wooden louvers. The colorful 'Garden Rooms,' are romantic beach style chalets with cleverly designed adjoining bathrooms, leading into a pebble tiled outdoor shower area. The spacious dorms cater to a maximum of six people, and give a sense of family beach house lofts.Their entrances are welcoming areas with bamboo furniture. The Beach House is very much about attention to detail, and gives as much South Sea Island feeling as possible.

The staff and their crafts

The twenty seven staff employed at the Beach House originate from the local community in the Coral Coast area, and collectively they contribute to adding to the specialness of the resort, bringing their vitality, vibrancy, and wealth of amazing insight from their land. They also contribute to an abundance of activities offered at the Beach House. Natural resources are used, including coconut leaf weaving where instruction is patiently given by Mali, a master in the craft. Napolean teaches his gift of doing amazing things with coconut shell, crafting them into sanded and incredibly carved bangles and pendants.

The Beach House offers a mecca of activities, due to its proximity to lush mountains and incredible coast, and staff knowledge of the region. Juta guides a four hour jungle trek to the Navola waterfall, through the rich rain forest. An inland guided kayaking adventure down the Navua River is offered. Other ways to explore the area are on horseback, either along the beach or into the mountains.

The life aquatic

Being located on the beach with easy access to the reef break, allows the perfect opportunity for surfing in Fiji, both for beginner and seasoned surfer. The Fiji Surf School is based here, with four dynamic and experienced surf instructors on site, lessons are available, and excellent local knowledge of the best surf breaks and day trips to surrounding areas such as Sigatoka , and further areas such as Natadola. The Beach House has recently added Stand Up Paddle Boarding to its extensive list of activities, and have recently become the agency for Coreban SUP’s in Fiji. The rapidly expanding sport can be easily learned, and with paddle board instruction also available, it can be picked up within an hour. The warm clear lagoon provides the perfect safe location to begin, and standing up on a paddle board is an excellent way to view the reef. For closer reef encounters, the lagoon is a fantastic spot to snorkel, and scuba diving is also offered with the possibility to qualify in Padi diving through Dive Away. Fishing trips are also easily available.

Outings are also available to Sigatoka, a bustling market town, and to Suva city, the Capital of Fiji. The possibilities at the Beach House are extensive, and it is easily the activity center of the Coral Coast. The Beach House is also a beautiful place just to relax and hang out, and a good time to be around is 3:30pm, when free scones (made with coconut milk) and tea are served in the afternoon. This Beach House ritual is a delectable one, not to be missed. It’s also a good time to gaze out to the lagoon, swim, or watch guests gliding out over the water on the largest swing in the South Pacific, from what seems, the most perfectly placed coconut tree in the South Pacific. It’s a good time to contemplate what divine food may be on offer for dinner and relax in the hammocks on the beach. The day may be nicely completed with an outdoor Bula massage with coconut oil, available outdoors, where you can still see the turquoise water, and marvel at a very definite excellent accommodation choice.
